Up close and personal with Galacticast tonight

In Galacticast’s first eight months, boyfriend-girlfriend team, Casey McKinnon and Rudy Jahchan have built up a burgeoning fan base (to the tune of 20,000 page views a week), won 5 Vloggies awards, and garnered all kinds of mainstream media attention with their saucy sci-fi tinged video podcast. Most recently they were mentioned on the BBC website. Steve Bryant, in a recent article in the Hollywood Reporter opined that they “may just represent the next geeky frontier of media,” and describes the show thusly, “Think Bollywood, if Bollywood was entirely peopled by phaser-wielding Canadians.”
Join me in a probing live online discussion with Casey and Rudy where you will be able pose your questions via text chat and our open phones segment. Find out how their journey is going as they explore new creative worlds and go where no video podcast has gone before.
When: Thursday, Nov 30, 10PM Eastern (7PM Pacific)
Where: The Reinventing Television online studio
What: A live interactive web video talk show with Casey McKinnon and Rudy Jahchan of Galacticast, host Jonny Goldstein, and most important, you.

Reinventing Television #5: Mark Lesser, Chief Joke Officer of thejokeproject.com
This week’s guest, Marc Lesser, is on the front lines of reinventing television with his independent videoblog, The Joke Project. What’s is it like to produce a daily online video documentary about what is perhaps the oldest storytelling form, the joke? The Joke Project is starting to get approached by various media outlets to license its gut busting content. What are the possibilities and pitfalls in trying to get a funny video project to provide its creators with a serious revenue stream? This is your chance to find out answers to these questions, and many more as you help me pick the brain of this up and coming media mogul. As usual, you the audience will be able to text chat questions and participate in our open phones segment.
In addition to his work on The Joke Project, Mark is a producer-editor at NBC Digital Studios. Hope to see you at this bellylaugh-o-ricious installment of Reinventing Television.

Live talk with Iraq Vloggers on web Thurs, Oct 26.
I am thrilled to have Brian Conley and Omar Abdullah of the groundbreaking videoblog, Alive in Baghdad booked as guests on Reinventing Television tonight, Thursday, October 26 at 7PM Pacific (10PM Eastern).
Alive in Baghdad was formed to counter the sound-bite driven, ‘Live From’ news model. Through the work of a team of Americans and Iraqi correspondents on the ground, Alive in Baghdad shows the occupation through the voices of Iraqis. Alive in Baghdad brings testimonies from individual Iraqis, footage of daily life in Iraq, and short news segments from Iraq to you.
Omar will be with us by phone, assuming he can get through from Baghdad, which is, as you can imagine, a bit iffy. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Either way, Brian will be with us, so we’ll have plenty to talk about.
As a special bonus, we’ll have a appearance from Irina Slutsky (of Geek Entertainment TV and Podtech) who will give us an upddate on the Vloggies.
As always, you will be able to ask our guests questions and make your voice heard through text chat and the open phone segment. You do not want to miss this episode.
When: 7PM Pacific (10PM Eastern), Thursday, October 26.

Lists of podcast and videoblog feeds
Mefeedia has a new list feature: you can create lists of RSS feeds that belong together. It also creates a page for each list that mashes up all the entries from the various feeds, so for example, this page contains a mix of entries from RSS feeds about SecondLife. Some more lists already available:
